Wood, nails, a few tools and mundane, repetitive gestures are combined and transformed in an imaginary workshop. The result oscillates between performance and folly.

Craftsmen are each assigned a different task. Together, they work on a project by following what seems like assembly instructions from a parallel universe. Hours and hours of repetitive movements allow the characters to carry out their tasks with utmost precision. As the onlookers walk down the complex and illogical path of creation alongside the builders, the raw materials are slowly transformed into works of art. 

Over the past few years, Claudio Stellato explored the fusion of body and matter in his work. He presented La Cosa in the 2016 edition of La Cité, at the Festival’s performance space in La Sallaz.
